I really love doing wedding hair and always feel honored when someone puts their trust in me to make them beautiful on their special day. I like to brag that I have a 100% success rate of no divorce amongst my many brides! I tell them I use plenty of hairspray to make sure it sticks! ☺️
This wedding was super special because the bride happens to be a family friend and someone I even baby sat a time or two. She is genuine and beautiful through and through and I'm so glad she asked me to help with her big day!
At around 9a.m. I pulled up to Turkey Ridge Plantation and it was absolutely beautiful and the weather couldn't have been any better! There was a big cabin by a pond with a dock where the bride and groom would say their vows. Even the ducks on the pond looked really peaceful... Then I realized they were decoys. 😆
I set up shop by a window on the second floor but first...
Mimosas!!! Everybody knows a proper southern wedding can't start without a mimosa. I knew a few of the other girls in the wedding and I knew it would be a fun time. All so sweet!
In about 15 minutes it looked like hurricane sandy had hit the room. Dresses, makeup, bras, shoes, plates of food, Vera Bradley bags and other miscellaneous things were scattered everywhere. It looked like an episode of hoarders. This is what a typical bridal room looks like. There is always a lot going on! Its chaotic, it's fun, and it's a freakin mess. I love it!!
I held off on the mimosas until later because I didn't want their hairstyles to be too interesting!😜 Most of the maids chose styles with braids. I think braids photograph really beautifully.
And last but not least the bride!!!
Speaking of photography let me introduce you to the photographer, Brittany Waters. Check out Brittany Anna photography on Facebook! She is amazing! I mean like really amazing! Love her work. She describes her style as moody, you will totally understand when you see her work. It is Photography with feeling. Here she is, doing her thing!
My friend Sabrina Seidenstricker, Owner of Studio B, is on speed dial when I need someone to help me out with a wedding. She is an amazing makeup artist and stylist and the most beautiful pregnant woman I've ever seen!
I tried to catch some moments in between the chaos and was able to capture this sweet mother/daughter moment. Kacies mom, Mrs.Judy, is a wonderful lady. The mother/daughter bond is definitely tight here!
The dress is also waiting for its big debut! Wow! It's gorgeous!
Pulling all of the rods out of the flower girls hair was a group effort. Isn't she adorable!?!?!?
It's almost go time! Everything looks calm but downstairs aunts, cousins, sisters, and friends are putting the finishing touches on all of the decorations and tying up loose ends before the ceremony.
Meanwhile a friend plays the guitar down by the water while everyone waits for the Bride!
Here she comes!!!
There she goes!!! Dad's giving her away...
Angels are singing! Or something... Maybe I'm just really high off of hairspray at this point and thought this looked celestial, so I took a picture. 😂
Introducing the bridal party and for the first time ever Mr. & Mrs.Lee Shorter!!!!
The dances! Thank God for waterproof mascara!
The infamous cake face smash!!! The wedding was catered by Rileys on Main in Johnston. I don't know who made the cake but it might have been the best wedding cake I'd ever had.
White people dancing to the "white girl shuffle". The guy with the boots was hysterical!
I managed to get a selfie of us before it got too crazy.
I was really in love with these center pieces.
The garter and bouquet!
Then the bride and groom made their exit! It was a very beautiful ceremony and everything went off without a hitch! Congratulations Kacie and Lee! I wish you a lifetime of love and happiness!
Here are a few of my favorite photos by Brittany Anna Photography. Thanks for reading my blog. If you've ever been a part of a wedding you know it takes a village!
